| “Shaolin leading the North and Wudang representing the South” has always been mentioned in China traditional martial arts arena! As you may be aware of, this year’s “Fourth World Traditional Wushu Championships” will soon take place in Wudang Mountain located in Shiyan city. And, with great expectation, Master Ye will lead his elite team from USA Shaolin Kungfu Zen Academy together with contestants from other states to participate this event. |

Occurring every other year with recognition of International Olympic Wushu Association plus sponsored by USAWKF, Chinese Wushu Association and Government of Hubei Province, 4WTWC is hosting this year’s event in Wudang mountain with the most diversified categories and numerous contestants from all parts of the world up to 60 to 80 countries for this foremost event in China.
This Year, all USA athletes competing in 4WTWC have been selected through National Wushu Championship taking place in San Jose during mid July orchestrated by Li’s Wushu Academy and will be heading their way to 4WTWC under the leadership of Master Ye as Team leader and Head coach.. While meeting other delegates from around the world to share the enthusiasm and passion of Wushu , 2010 USAWKF SKZ team will also be able to experience the Whushu Culture as well as prove to themselves through the 4WTWC platform as well.

The USAWKF-Shaolin Kungfu Zen (SKZ) Team performed with great distinction during the 4th World Traditional Wushu Championship (WTWC) which took place at Wudang Mountain, Shiyan City, China from October 16 to 20th, 2010. The 18 member USAWKF SKZ team, including contestants, coaches, and families, won 8 silver medals, 3 bronze medals, and many other honors and recognitions.
The 4th WTWC is sponsored biennially by the International Wushu Federation (IWUF) and is organized by the Chinese Wushu Association, the Government of Hubei Province, and the City of Shiyan. At the Opening Ceremony, USAWKF President Anthony Goh delivered a welcome speech to the attendees on behalf of IWUF. This year the event attracted more than 2000 athletes from 83 countries and regions around the world; the greatest number of participants to date. Competitors took part in barehanded, apparatus, dual, and group events.
Shiyan is the birth place of the Wudang form of wushu and one of the birthplaces of Taoism, one of the most traditional religions of China. In addition to competing, participants also had the opportunity to experience the charm of Wudang wushu and enjoy magnificent views and the natural beauty of Mount Wudang.
USAWKF would like to thank the Shaolin Kungfu Zen school for organizing a team to represent USAWKF and the United States at this event. We are pleased that the team achieved such excellent results and enjoyed their time in Shiyan. (To review photos, please click here: )
