I’m Leonardo Price, and I’m 16 years old. I go to school in Menlo Park. It is a far drive to Kung Fu but it’s worth it because the Shifu is such a great teacher. I always look forward to the next class because he will teach something new every time. Having friends go there also pushes me to become the best I can be.
Before I went to Kung Fu, I used to be really shy about going to new places. But now, I feel like I can speak with almost anyone. It taught me that everyone has something in common. I feel more balanced and in control of my own body because of how much Kung Fu requires those two skills at a very high level. Those two attributes also translated over to my everyday life as well. I am grateful for everything that Kung Fu has done for me.
Hi, I’m Leonardo Price, and I would like to thank the judges and parents for coming to this black belt test. It’s not every day that you get to see one. I’ve been to this Kung Fu studio since I was about 10. But, Kung Fu has been in my life since I can remember. It was always cool to watch people do crazy combat moves that seem like a human wouldn’t be able to do it even though they do it. Watching a fight scene is fun and all, but Kung Fu has brought a different kind of action to the movie business. A lot of people have become successful from Kung Fu now. For example Jackie Chan. 30 years ago, Kung Fu was only popular with Bruce Lee and those types of movies that focus on Kung Fu and its history. However, now, Kung Fu is being used in all types of movies. Karate kid is an action film, Rush Hour is a comedy, Kung Fu Panda is a kids movie, and crouching tiger hidden dragon is a romantic movie. All of these movies involve Kung Fu. Martial arts have changed the way we think of combat and it has definitely made a big impact on us in the Kung Fu studio.
