Nathan Stark Black Belt

I chose this topic because Kung-Fu taught me important skills I have applied in my life. Some examples are perseverance, persistence, and resilience.

One personal experience that has impacted me was math. In the 6th grade, instead of being placed in regular math, I was placed in a much more advanced class. Unlike regular math, this class was much more difficult pushing me to my limit multiple times. However, instead of giving up, I applied what I had learned in Kung-Fu and persevered passing the class. Further, like Kung-Fu there are no shortcuts, you cannot go from white belt to black belt, and you cannot learn everything about math in a year.

This experience can be beneficial to others by teaching them to keep going. Adding on, this experience can teach people to set goals for themselves and make progress little by little. To quote Confucius "It does not matter how slowly you go so long as you do not stop."

In short, Kung-Fu has taught me important skills applicable in life. It taught me to persevere in many situations even if it got difficult. Adding on, in the future I aspire to run a marathon. Like Kung-Fu, it will take practice and dedication. However, I understand that if I apply these lessons I will triumph.

Some people I would like to thank are the Shifu's. They have always kept teaching and guiding me from the first day I started Kung-Fu. They have taught me some of the most applicable and important skills I use almost every day like persistence and perseverance. Some other people I would like to thank are my family. They have always supported me and pushed me to do better every day.
